6 Daily (eating) Habits Of Healthy People That You Should Adopt ASAP

They sit down to eat: Many of us live an on-the-go lifestyle, but this can prevent us from taking care of our bodies or taking the time to
stop and smell the roses. “[Sitting down to eat] helps people enjoy their food,” says Jill Weisenberger, MS, RDN, CDE. “Eat mindfully and recognize when you’ve had enough.”

They’re not perfect: Treating yourself here and there won’t ruin your health, so focus on good habits overall. “My secret to success is
always striving to do the right thing when it comes to food and fitness 80% of the time,” says Kathleen Zelman, MPH, RD, LD. “It is
unrealistic to think you can be perfect so a little less than perfect fits the bill.” So no need to beat yourself up if you were too tired
to go to the gym this morning!

They eat breakfast: Having a meal first thing in the morning helps prevent you from overeating later, and can also help with weight management and improve your focus throughout the day. “Eating breakfast sets the tone for the day because it gets our blood sugar up, which makes our brain function better the rest of the day,” says Keri Gans, RD. “ It gets our metabolism going, it reduces cravings later in the day, and it puts us in a better mood.”

They don’t have food regret: “Healthy eaters don’t think about what they ate long after they have finished the meal or snack,” says
Jessica Setnick, MS, RD, CEDRD. “They don’t feel guilty about eating or punish themselves by not eating later, and they don’t let what they ate influence their self- worth.”

They drink a lot of water: ”Skip the sodas and diet sodas and concentrate on drinking lots of water every day,” says Danielle Hamo,
RD LD/N. “Drinking water prior to a meal can aid in eating less food and in weight loss, and water helps skin look at its best,” she says.
Staying hydrated will not only help you stay full, but it will keep you energized and in a better mood throughout your day.

They plan their meals: Healthy eating becomes much easier when you think ahead. “Meal planning decreases stress, saves money and allows us to make healthy choices before life gets in our way,” says Lori Rosenthal, MS, RD,CDN.  “When we are hungry and we don’t know what we are going to eat, healthy choices often lose to whatever is most

convenient.” Making a grocery list and keeping healthy ingredients on hand can help encourage a better diet.

I couldn’t agree more! Let’s be real: long term dietary success is all about balance.
